Hello. I'm Jonathan Cresswell. I used to blog here daily, but that fell through and now I store bits and pieces on here. I'm a journalist/web designer/madman. Read my actual blog or find out more about me on my website. I also tweet. |
I was asked a question today – a rather tough one. Well, that’s not really different to most things I’m asked, but this one stood out for the reason that it was in a split second in which I was paying attention to what was going on.
“So why do you blog?”
It’s a good question. Much of the things people write are nothing but inane twaddle, personal waffle and uninformed opinionated bullshit. Hence this blog.
I suppose there’s a good feeling of getting something written down: seeing it on the page, and if even just one person reads it, you feel good, and if they enjoy it, even better, and if they comment about the overuse of commas in this sentence, they’d probably be right, and now I’m just going to throw more in, mainly just for good measure.
Some people might do it because it feels they have a bit of power. With the internet having few barriers to entry (mainly practical ones rather than legal ones) you don’t have to be restricted by not having a platform. If other people aren’t bringing up an issue, maybe you have the chance to. Who knows, it could get traction and take off from there.
But me, personally?
Pfft, I dunno. Seemed like a good idea at a time.
